Dr Garth Forbes BSc. BDS. (Principal Dentist)

Garth was bought up in Wairoa and attended Wairoa College from 1967 to 1971. He attended Otago and Massey University Graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology 1976 and BDS Bachelor of Dental Surgery for Otago Dental School in 1979. He was then Dental House Surgeon at Napier hospital in 1980 where he developed his interest in minor oral surgery. The following 6 years were spent in London England gaining further experience in Cosmetic Dentistry, Crown and bridge work and especially Maryland (Bonded) Bridges. Garth returned to Wairoa in 1987 purchasing the Locke street Practice where he has worked since.

Dr Purobe Datta BDS. (Associate Dentist)

Purobe joined us in January 2010. From Melbourne, Australia she attanded Mac. Robertson Girls High School North Melbourne, Victoria.
She then attended the University of Adelaide in South Australia where she studied and gained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

 

Sue Hooper (Head Chairside Assistant)

Sue is responsible for ordering supplies and training Chairside Staff. Originally from England sue spent most of her education years at Hillneath and Wairoa college. After leaving College she trained and worked at the BNZ here in Wairoa. Married to Ross sue left the Bank to bring up their small children. Sue returned to work partime in 1987 when Garth bought the practice and has since the mid 1990s become a full time employee.

Kim Jelbert (Laboratory Technician)

Kim is responsible for the laboratory wax and plastic work pouring dental casts, making and repairing Dentures. Kim was educated in Wairoa and was trained in Laboratory work by Clinical Dental Technician Tim de Lautour in the early 1990s. When Wairoa Denture Services was incorporated into Forbes Dental Co., Kim stayed on and is a very versatile member of the dental team. Working as a receptionist one day a week and helping as a chair-side assistant when required.

Sharon Richardson (Part-time Receptionist)

Sharon is from Wairoa and educated here. Married to John, she joined Forbes Dental Co., as a Part-time Chair-side assistant in 1994. The end of 1999 we lost our second Dentist and Sharon had a break from Dentistry until 2004 when she returned to initially Chair side Nurse and then took over reception duties in 2007.

Donna McNabb ( Chair-side Assistant)

Donna joined us in February 2009. From Wairoa she is married to Jason and was bought up and educated here. Donna nurses mainly for Jack but you may see her helping in reception occasionally.

Catherine Lewis ( Chair-side Assistant)

Catherine joined us in February 2011. Originally from Gisborne and Married to Mark she is the newest member of our team.
